Brand Relaunch – All New Name & Website

During the pandemic, my blog, newsletter, and social media were all stalled as there has just been too much to do keep my business running during these strange times. And I also decided that after nearly a decade in business it was finally time to rebrand.

MakeMeASuccess is no more. It was a name that I choose in 2012 as I was put on the spot. Not long after coming up with that name and coming home from a gap year, I began working as a freelance copywriter and using SEO and keyword research to write content for small businesses.

The name hung on me and I started to cring when I said it. I transitioned over from copywriting to book editing and took my business full-time in the summer of 2017. It was just months before my dad passed away from cancer. It wasn’t the first time (or the last) that I considered giving up my little business and just getting a stable job. But something in me convinced me to stick it out. I’d written and given my dad’s eulogy and on the one year anniversary, I overcame two of my biggest fears and swam in dark waters with sharks to raise funds for Cancer Research. You can read more about that experience here.

Again during lockdown, something inside told me I wasn’t truly happy with my business and life and things needed to change. I have amazing friends and a great support system, love my family, and I have a nice life and social life (well outside of lockdown). But something wasn’t quite reaching contentment so I knew it had to be my business. I sat on it for a while and realised there were three issues – 1. I hated the name, 2.  there are parts of my business I don’t enjoy doing, 3. I still hadn’t published my own novels and was struggling with imposter syndrome.

It was time for changes!! I’m not going to sit here and pretend that it’s been easy or quick or cheap and that I haven’t almost given up a few times. It’s still a work in progress. But as we approach the end of this year, I’ve achieved a lot in 2021 and have big plans for 2022. Here are some of the updates so far:

  1. Now we have a new name & domain name, branding, colours, illustrations, and this beautiful new website. I am in love with it all.
  2. The website took what felt like forever. Our developer disappeared on us but enough was done to at least launch and now we’re working with someone new to create the landing page for the very special Entrepreneur Author Mastermind launching in 2022.
  3. I went through three ilustrators until I found the one who created the images you’ll see on this site – she is amazing and I’m so happy with them.
  4. We went green. Aside from getting advice from an actual climate scientist, we relaunched with eco-hosting with Krystal and are taking steps to be as sustainable and eco-friendly as we can.
  5. More charity work. Every year (and long before setting up my business), I would choose at least one charity each year and raise some funds as well as raise awareness. This has continued even during lockdown You can read more about my efforts here.
  6. My first employees! Yes, I’m no longer a lone wolf (aka editor). Erin is our photographer and content creator. Michael is our researcher and videographer. Multi-talented people that they are! Oh and we can’t forget Opie, our fluffy pet mascot.
  7. Big plans for 2022, Big, huge – in the words of Julia Roberts a la Pretty Women. I’m talking product range, my novels and nonfiction series launching, the Mastermind, writing retreats. After two years of planning and research it’s all coming together and I am so excited for it all.
